Stoneleigh-Burnham School, founded in 1869, is a gender-inclusive boarding and day school nestled in the Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts. Educating students in Grades 7 - 12 and postgraduate (PG) on our beautiful 100-acre campus, the School inspires students to pursue meaningful lives based on honor, respect, and intellectual curiosity. Each student is challenged to discover their best self and graduate with confidence to think independently and act ethically, secure in the knowledge that their voice will be heard.
Stoneleigh-Burnham provides opportunities outside the classroom for a well-rounded educational experience. These include, but are not limited to, artistic endeavors in both the visual and performing arts, athletic pursuits, numerous clubs and affinity groups, as well as a world-class Debate and Public Speaking Society and an internationally recognized equestrian program.
Our students have unlimited opportunities to explore their opinions, develop their arguments, engage their voices, and practice self-advocacy both inside and outside the classroom. The School’s Debate and Public Speaking Society participates in the Debating Association of New England Independent Schools (DANEIS), which provides opportunities for public speakers and debaters to compete both regionally and internationally. Founded in 1978, DANEIS now includes 30 member and affiliated schools. Twenty (and counting) Stoneleigh-Burnham students have ranked as World Competitors in Debate & Public Speaking.
Stoneleigh-Burnham’s Equestrian Program provides riders of all levels quality instruction in Hunters, Jumpers, Equitation, Eventing, and Dressage. As the first and only secondary school equestrian facility in the United States to achieve prestigious certification via the British Horse Society, our on-campus Equestrian Center facilities include: two indoor riding rings, an expansive outdoor facility with an enclosed sand ring, a European-style Derby field, a cross-country course with levels from beginner novice to preliminary, an extensive trail network encircling our 100-acre campus, a heated viewing room, two heated barns, and an equine rehabilitation facility.
