Students who live at Saint James share the joys and challenges of boarding school life with a wide variety of friends, and they are enriched by this diversity of talents and backgrounds. Other weekend activities include ice skating, mystery trips, movie runs on Saturday nights, mall trips and jaunts to Washington, DC. Summary: Arts We invite you to tap into your creativity at Saint James! The arts—Music, Visual Art, Theater, and Dance—are an integral part of school life. Our faculty encourages and nurtures beginners, and guides more advanced students to grow in their sophistication. Involvement in the arts fosters empathy and understanding, and involves students in creative collaboration. Many young men and women who never thought of themselves as artists have discovered and developed talents they did not know they had. Athletics Athletics serve as an important part of adolescent physical, social, and moral development. Coaches teach athletes many lessons about character and responsibility. Furthermore, students engage in hands-on experiences where they may begin to comprehend the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, goal setting, integrity, and discipline. Saint James offers a wide variety of programs and levels of competition to challenge and help build students' self-confidence. Our boys’ teams compete against Washington, DC private schools as part of the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC). The girls compete in the Independent-Parochial School League (IPSL) which includes St. Maria Goretti, Mercersburg Academy, and Bishop Walsh. We are also committed to competing against other local public and private schools.
