Summary: Though national and state standards are debated and criticized for taking the innovation and creativity out of the classroom, the Brandon Hall Performance Standards are continuously evolving as education is constantly changing to embrace and encourage creativity and innovation. Our teachers are committed to high academic standards and helping our students lead lives of leadership, scholarship, and service. Our teachers are highly qualified educators who are committed to providing our students with many opportunities to learn. They are in constant communication with parents through monthly email communication and weekly gradebook updates. Communication is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success. We encourage parents to contact us if/when the need arises. Brandon Hall academics are continually evolving. Brandon Hall has long offered regular, honors, and Advanced Placement courses. We are now an accredited International Baccalaureate World School, offering an IB Diploma. This program is just one more option for Brandon Hall students to choose from as they find their path and lead the way.

Sipple Hall is our main dormitory and houses 78 students. In addition, we have a number of townhouse style dorms called The Villages near the Chattahoochee River. Our dorms are led by faculty dorm parents and student leaders.

Student Life

Brandon Hall requires that each student participate in at least one co-curricular/extracurricular organization or team sport during the year and provides a wide variety of clubs and organizations to join. Each organization establishes its own mission, criteria for membership, and activities for the year. Brandon Hall holds an assembly in the fall for clubs and organizations to present an overview of their mission and activities. Students sign up and attend organizational meetings. Once a student has made a commitment to a club, he or she is expected to attend and to adhere to the requirements. Some clubs may impose dues approved in advance by the administration. Students may participate in more than one activity, provided they can meet the attendance and other requirements. Students who sign up for an organization that meets during the school day must be in attendance. The school encourages students to participate in the creation of new student organizations.

Summary: Arts: The mission of the fine arts department is to provide equal opportunities for all students to discover the enriching power, the intellectual excitement, and the joy of competence in the arts. Artistic skills and knowledge will be unlocked through a developmentally-based program of instruction that offers both arts-focused and arts-integrated educational experiences; and promotes meaningful exploration and expression for all Brandon Hall students. Athletics: A member of Atlanta Athletic Conference (AAC) and Georgia Independent School Association (GISA), Brandon Hall fields teams at the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School levels. The school recognizes each student's athletic skills and experience and allows student athletes the opportunity to participate in interscholastic or intramural competition. All boarders are required to participate on an athletic team or in fine arts or another proved activity each season unless otherwise approved by the administration. In keeping with the mission of the school, the athletic program promotes a positive, competitive environment, emphasizing physical fitness, individual and group effort, positive attitudes, self-discipline, good sportsmanship, the art of winning and losing graciously, and respect for individual differences, talents, and skill levels.

Summary: As a college preparatory school, Brandon Hall School also assists its students in researching and selecting appropriate colleges and universities that will fulfill their academic needs and interests. Students must apply to a minimum of two colleges and be accepted to one in order to fulfill their graduation requirement from Brandon Hall. English teachers work closely with students on any required essays. All application materials are reviewed by the college advisor and are submitted from the school to the college to insure that all required forms and information have been completed. Our goal for Brandon Hall students is to not only have success in high school, but to continue that success throughout their college career. The College Advisement office is dedicated to assisting students in finding the right college focusing on research, accountability, and communication. With the CA office, parents and students work together to narrow down a list of colleges to apply to that suits their needs and their aspirations.
