Villanova Preparatory School was founded in 1924 as a Catholic school in the Augustinian tradition. Villanova is a college preparatory, co-educational, day and boarding school where cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity are welcomed and embraced. Villanova employs 30 faculty along with administration and support staff to provide an outstanding community-based education for its students. Of the faculty and administration, 85% possess an advanced degree or California credential. The student-teacher ratio is 10:1, with an average class size of 16. The total enrollment is under 200, with approximately 70% day and 30% boarding.

Academics

Summary: Our college prep curriculum offers a breadth of opportunities to foster the intellectual achievement of each student. Small class size and highly qualified and dedicated faculty encourage academic excellence. Although the curriculum is rigorous, students view Villanova as a friendly and engaging place. Teachers are available daily for after-school tutoring and welcome the opportunity to offer academic support. An iPad program allows technology to be integrated throughout the curriculum. In all curriculum areas, lessons are designed to provide active learning and personal responsibility in developing the interests and skills to be a life-long learner. Our students are encouraged to work to their highest potential, achieve strong college preparatory skills, and gain a broad knowledge in the humanities, arts, and sciences. We consistently place students into many of the top colleges and universities in the nation. We operate on the semester system and students take seven courses each year. Our course catalog features honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) course offerings, so that students will be able to test themselves in a supportive, yet intellectually challenging, small-school learning environment. Our students are encouraged to develop a range of skills for critical thinking and self-expression and to mature into socially active global citizens. With this in mind, our academic curriculum enables students to become college ready within a Catholic, Augustinian values-based, education.

Summary: Athletics: We believe strongly in the ideal of "Pursuing Victory with Honor." The commitment to hard work, dedication to the team, respect for all, and good sportsmanship are cornerstones of our athletics program. All Villanova coaches, players, parents, and fans are expected to display these qualities at all times. Wildcat Athletics is guided by the belief that faith and community must come first and that participation in athletics must be accompanied by excellence in the classroom. Our athletic program also believes in the value of competition and the life lessons that are learned as a result of participation in a competitive program. The goal of our athletics program is for all scholar-athletes to develop life skills that include: the ability to work with others effectively, the ability to lead others in a positive manner, the ability to perform at his/her best in competitive situations, the ability to enjoy athletic activities, and the ability to develop a personal lifetime fitness philosophy. We offer multiple sports during all three sport seasons. The majority of our students participate in at least one sport, with many participating in two or more over the course of the school year. Arts: We offer a dynamic and growing fine arts department that introduces all students to human expression through participation in drama, music, film, and art. Every student spends a year pursuing visual or performing arts during their career at Villanova. Our students put on two major productions a year, and the productions are open to all students. Students participate in every aspect of these productions, including the thrill of performing in our beautiful outdoor amphitheater. Our art courses explore a wide variety of mediums; drawing, painting, and other visual expressions allow our art students to truly “see.” Our expanding music program offers students the opportunity to express themselves creatively through music; our Chorale Ensemble performs at all major school events and exposes students to a vast and exciting variety of musical genres. Our fine arts curriculum is designed so that every student can find their place in the creative arts. Our fine arts students move towards a greater confidence in the joy of creative ability as well as acquire an understanding and deep appreciation for the beauty and expression of the human spirit.

Gastón is a Mexican film producer and founder of Fábrica de Cine. He collaborated with Martin Scorcese on the Irishman and Silence.

Benito Molina

Class of

Benito is a famous chef and actor in Mexico and is known for his highly-rated restaurants and as an actor in MasterChef Latino (2018), MasterChef México (2015), and Celebremos: Eterna Navidad (2020).

Jacob Greenspan

Class of 2014

Jacob is a 6-time Platinum/Grammy nominated music producer & songwriter known for writing the hit song "Roxanne" in 2020. He has worked as a writer and producer for many famous artists including Justin Beiber.

John Fuller

Current CEO of Wahlburgers and past CEO of Johnny Rockets and Coffee, Bean, and Tea Leaf. He has also appeared twice on the CBS hit show "Undercover Boss".

William P. Clark, Jr.

Class of 1949

Mr. Clark was a justice on the California Supreme Court and worked under Ronald Reagan as the Deputy Secretary of State from 1981 to 1982, United States National Security Advisor from 1982 to 1983, and the Secretary of the Interior from 1983 to 1985.
