Sossina Haile, Ph.D. (Class of 1983) was named by Newsweek among twelve prominent individuals to watch in 2008 for her work on developing a new type of fuel cells, which produce energy through chemical reactions; their chief emission is pure water. Sosinna’s family fled Ethiopia during the coup in the mid-'70s, after soldiers arrested and nearly killed her historian father, then settled in rural Minnesota where Haile graduated from Prep and then MIT. She is a Professor of Materials Science and of Chemical Engineering at Cal Tech.
Jennifer Waldron, Ph.D. (Class of 1992) is an Assistant Professor and conducting research at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Rapids’ School of Health, Physical Education and Leisure Services. Her research involves investigating the extent and the consequences of hazing in the world of high school sports. Jennifer earned her Ph.D. at Michigan State University (2003), her M.A. at Bowling Green State University, Ohio (1999) and her B.A. from the University of St. Thomas , St. Paul (1996).
